Important DatesPaper Submission: July 29, 2009 |
SBBD is the official event sponsored by SBC (the Brazilian Computer Society) in the area of databases and the largest venue in Latin America for the presentation and discussion of research results on databases. It gathers researchers, students and practitioners, from Brazil and abroad, to discuss problems related to the main topics in this domain. Besides technical sessions and tutorials, the Symposium also includes invited talks given by distinguished speakers from the international research community.
In past editions, SBBD has been organized in cooperation with ACM/SIGMOD and partially sponsored by the VLDB Endowment. In its 24rd edition, the Symposium will be held in Foratleza, in the State of Ceará, on October 05-07. SBBD is expected to gather around 1000 attendees in the 2009 edition, following the participation trend from previous years.
Besides regular paper submissions, SBBD 2009 also invites submissions of posters to foster interaction on hot topics and ongoing work. The goal of the Poster session is to provide an interactive opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present their new and innovative work-in-progress and to obtain feedback from their peers in an informal way. It also gives conference attendees an opportunity to learn about novel on-going research projects that might not yet be complete, but whose preliminary results are already relevant.
In this edition, a certificate will be given to "The Best Poster of SBBD
2009". Such
poster will be chosen by a special committee that will evaluate all posters
during the
SBBD 2009 Poster Session.
The deadline for Poster submissions is July 29, 2009 (no latter than 11:55pm - Brasilia time zone; standard time zone UTC/GMT -3 hours).
Submitted posters can be written in Portuguese or English. Poster submissions should focus on innovative work related to SBBD's topics of interest. Submissions should be made via the JEMS system https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/sbbd2009 : III Sessão de Pôsteres (SBBD 2009 - Pôsteres).
The submission details for posters are the same as for the main refereed papers track, except that the page limit is 4. Additionally, the abstract in English is optional for papers written in Portuguese, and the "resumo" in Portuguese is optional for papers written in English. Papers may be composed using the SBC template (found at http://www.sbc.org.br/sbc/eventos/templates.html) or with font size 12pt, single column.
Posters will be peer-reviewed by members of the Posters Committee based on
originality,
significance, quality, and clarity. The acceptance of a poster implies that
at least one
of its authors will register for the symposium to present it. Accepted poster papers will be allocated 4 pages in the conference CD
proceedings. In
addition to the 4-page submission, accepted poster authors will be asked to
generate a
full size poster to be displayed in a dedicated poster area during the
poster session at
the conference.
